About the organization
FIND is a global non-profit organization that drives innovation in the development and delivery of diagnostics to combat major diseases affecting the world’s poorest populations. Globally, FIND is registered in Switzerland and headquartered in Geneva, with in-country hubs in India, South Africa, Kenya and Vietnam. Since 2003, FIND has been instrumental in the development of 24 new diagnostic tools. Over 50 million FIND-supported products have been provided to 150 low- and middle-income countries since the start of 2015.
FIND’s activities in India, initially focused on in-country evaluation and demonstration studies for new TB diagnostic tools, such as liquid culture and drug susceptibility testing, rapid speciation, molecular line-probe assay, LED-based fluorescence microscopy, and GeneXpert® MTB/Rif assay. The data from these studies formed part of the body of evidence that ultimately enabled their endorsement by World Health Organization (WHO). The data also informed India’s Revised National TB Control Program (currently called the “National TB Elimination Program” or NTEP), policy on the introduction of these technologies at the national level and subsequent formulation of guidelines for the detection and management of drug-resistant TB with these new diagnostic technologies.
Thereby, FIND, the global alliance for diagnostics, seeks to ensure equitable access to reliable diagnosis around the world. They connect countries and communities, funders, decisionmakers, healthcare providers and developers to spur diagnostic innovation and make testing an integral part of sustainable, resilient health systems. They are working to save 1 million lives through accessible, quality diagnosis, and save US$1 billion in healthcare costs to patients and health systems. FIND has been working in India since 2007. In partnership with the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), FIND is facilitating delivery of quality assured laboratory services for effective and accurate diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB). FIND has also supported the introduction and expansion of new, rapid, accurate and affordable tests for TB within the NTEP to strengthen country laboratory capacity. FIND is focused on supporting country’s response to COVID-19, through training & capacity building, augmenting RT-PCR, sequencing capacity and implementation of innovative service delivery models.
